About Hard Kandy

If any brand embodies the heart and soul of Australia’s harder styles dance scene, it’s undoubtedly Hard Kandy. More than two decades on, the iconic Melbourne party crew continues to thrive, evolving with the times while pushing the culture in bold new directions. Much of Hard Kandy’s lasting impact can be traced back to the vision and relentless drive of its founder, resident DJ, and chief instigator, Scott Alert. His passion and clear creative direction have propelled the brand beyond local roots, exporting its high-energy ethos worldwide and bringing together a new generation of ravers and clubbers.
What began in 1999 as a weekly Melbourne club night has since transformed into one of the great success stories of the Australian hard dance scene. From those early roots, Hard Kandy has gone on to create and sell out flagship events like Shadows of Wonderland, Kandy Carnival, and Esoteric Festival. More recently, collaborations with HSU Events on major Melbourne shows—including Knockout Outdoors and Karnival—have helped deliver some of the country’s biggest harder styles experiences, drawing crowds of up to 30,000.
